PACIFIC SHIPPING.
MAINTENANCE OF BRITISH LINES. NEGOTIATIONS AS TO AMOUNT OF SUBSIDY. STATEMENT BY FEDERAL PREMIER. (Received Friday, 10.5 p.m.) MELBOURNE, Muy 29. The Prime Minister, Mr. J. A. Lyons, stated to-day that negotiations for the maintenance of British shipping in the Pacific in competition with the Matson Line had reached a stage where the Governments concerned were considering the amount of a subsidy. The decision hinged on the response which the Governments made.
