PRESSURE EASING.
NO WEEK-END SITTING OF PARLIAMENT. BROADCAST ARRANGEMENTS FOR TUESDAY. BACK BENCHERS TO BE HEARD. (By Telegraph—“ The Age” Special.) WELLINGTON, May 29. j The heavy pressure experienced by ' Parliamentarians this session is appreciably easing, and the Government evidently considers it possible to complete its initial programme within a week with no necessity of abandoning the usual Parliamentary week-end respite. The House of Representatives accorded a fairly favourable reception to the . State Advances Corporation Bill, for there was no severe Opposition criti- i cism and the Bill passed its second reading without challenge before the ■ House adjourned this afternoon. In order ■to give radio listeners an opportunity of hearing a wider range of speakers than the usual array of “front benchers” who come on the air, the Government will commence the debate on the short title of the State Advances Corporation Bill in Committee at 7.30 on Tuesday evening and as the time limit on speakers is ten minutes, a dozen can be given a radio opportunity before the broadcast concludes. The afternoon will be occupied in discussing the report of the Director of Education on his reeent tour of investigation of the education systems in other countries.
