FAREWELL TO MISS lORSSS.

On Thursday afternoon the. children of the Primer classes at thft Central invited Miss Mistress, to a party. A afternoon was spent. Miss For ns waa the recipient of a bouquet from her pupils. Yesterday afternoon the pupils of the school, at a happy.- little function, presented Miss loens with a beautiful set of spoons and a set of cake forks. The presentation was made by one of the. prefects, Allan.; Mackenzie Douglas, who made an appropriate speech. The-headmaster (Mr B. G. Coddington) assured Miss lorns that the gift was a< spontaneous onefrom the pupils themselves, most of whom had passed through her hands. Miss lorns responded feelingly, saying that she found it impossible to put into words all she felt. She would continue to take great interest in all their doings and would be at all future school functions. The assembly concluded with musical honours, cheery, and the school song. MISS M. F. GATHERING AT MASTERTON WEST. A pleasant function took place at the Masterton West 'School yesterday afternoon when Miss M. F. Wallis, who has been a member of the teaching staff for the past four years was farewelled on the eve of her departure to take up a position at the Central School. Presentations were made to Miss Wallis by Mr. W. V. Madden, secretary of the committee (in the absence of the chairman, Mr. J. V. Gordon) of a pair of book-ends and two framed pictures from the children and a fountain pen from the members of the committee. Miss Wallis was also presented with a beautiful bouquet from the children. The headmaster, Mr. L. J. Mark, referred to the loss the school had suffered by Miss Wallis's transfer and wished her every success in her new position. Miss Wallis, in acknowledging the gifts and good wishes expressed, said she had been very happy at the school and was sorry to sever her connection with it.
