TEMPERANCE WORK.

MEETING OF MASTERTON UNION. . There was a large attendance of members at the monthly meeting of the W.C.T.U., held in Knox Hall. The president (Miss E. Jones) occupied the chair. Mrs. Jansen led the devotional exercises. Afternoon tea. was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Cocker and Miss Tankersley. The Rev. E. J. Rich gave a very interesting address on “To-day’s Opportunity.’’ He said that the three things necessary ior success were: A broad outlook, an understanding sympathy, and a definite aggressive reform, and evangelical work. A vote of thanks was passed to the speaker Mrs. Kitchener read the report of the district executive meeting. Arrangements were made for the visit of Mrs. B. H. Low, M.A., “Peace Superintendent,’’ towards the end of May. The June meeting will be a combined gathering of the Wairarapa Unions, members of the Masterton Union to be hostesses. Mrs. Cocker closed the meeting with the benediction.
