WORK FOR PEACE.

LEAGUE OF NATIONS UNION MASTERTON BRANCH MEETING. A meeting of the council of the Masterton branch of the League of Nation’s Union was held yesterday at School House. Mr. H. B. Tomlinson presided. A resolution of sympathy with Dr. Gibb (Dominion President) in his recent illness was passed and the hope expressed for his speedy recovery. A motion of condolence with the relatives of the late Mrs. L. Donald was also carried.

Copies of the paper, “The Monthly Summary of World Events,”' are to be ordered and placed in secondary schools.

The secretary (Miss Barter) reported that the Masterton Branch, was in a healthy position, the membership showing an increase of 15 over last year’s numbers, the roll standing at 56 adults, 36 juniors and one corporate body of 77 members. Miss Barrer detailed the activities since the last council meeting. Special services were held by women in Masterton on February 16 on the occasion of the Brussels Peace Demonstration. A suggestion was forwarded to Mrs. Drury, Secretary of the Young People’s Peace and Goodwill League, now resident in Japan, that that body should combine with the Junior League of Nations Union. Correspondence work was being carried on by juniors and some adults.

Miss Barrer was appointed delegate to a combined meeting in the cause of Peace to be held under the League of Nations Union, in Wellington, on June 2, to which all affiliated organisations in New Zealand had the right to send representatives. It was reported that Miss Wilson, headmistress of Queen Margaret College, Wellington, would be in Masterton on Thursday, March 22, and would give an address on “Sidelights from Geneva,” an address especially designed to suit a youthful audience. During the evening an interesting programme would be presented. Members of schools, Bible classes and the League of Nations Union and all interested would be specially invited.

It was decided that an invitation be extended either to Mr. Frank Milner or the Eev. Blanchard, to give an address in Masterton, at the time of the annual meeting, at a date to be decided lator.
