AVIATION DISPLAY.
DEMONSTRATIONS BY WAHLARAPAePXLOTS. HOOD AERODROME! ON SATURDAY On Saturday neat the Wairarapajand! Ruahine Aero Club will run a series of competitions to decide, by a process of elimination, the club’s official representative in. the various events -at the Official North Island Pageant to be held at Bridge Pah Aerodrome, Hastmgs; .om March 24.
Several very handsome cups have been debated to the New Zealand Aero Club, for annual, competition, between the various constituent clubs on a championship basis.'. Only one ■ representative of each club is allowed to participate in cash competition. The trophies allocated' to ..the North. Island Pageant this year are: Sir Francis Boys’- Clip,! landing competition; Cory Wright Cup, navigation competition. Other cups, the property of the Hawke’s Bay and Elast Coast. ’Aroo Club, to be competed'for at the Hastings: • Pageant, are as follows:—Newbigin Cup, an aerobatic competition open to endorsed A or club-trained B pilots; Stead' Oapp a.- ‘bombing- competition open to A or endorsed A pilots; Richmond 'Cup, an all-transport race open to A or B pilots, the competitors being required to crawl 25 yards, run 25 yards, cyclo 25' yards, motor 25 yards, and fly 168 yards; Kessell trophy goes to the dub gaining most points in the above competitions. The programme of events at the Hood Aerodrome on ‘Saturday will be similar to the above, and will commence at 2.30 p.m. Keen interest is being- displayed 'by- the local pilots in. these competitions, and' some good contests. are ensured.' A further attraction will be a display of aerobatics and inverted flying by Flying-Officer J. Buekeridge at about 4 o’clock. Afternoon tea' arrangements are in the capable hands of Mrs. J. Hal'se, and an enjoyable and' instructive afternoon’s enterteiinnent is ensured to all. Club members and the general public are, cordially invited to attend. There Will be no charge for admission to the aerodrome.
