SOUTH WAIRARAPA ITEMS. PIBINOA. (“The Age’’ Special.) Mrs J. Busch has returned from a visit to friends in Porirua. Mrs F. G. Busch was among the recent visitors to Wellington. Elder Harris, who has been in this district for a fortnight left for Wellington on Saturday. Miss Hono Wi Neera has returned to her home in Pirinoa. Mr. Bruce, who has been relieving Mrs Minncher at the local post offica for a month has returned to Wellington. Mr. and Mrs Lovegrove and family have taken up their residence in the district. Mr. George Mansfield, who has been residing here for some time left on Saturday en route for the Homeland. The outlet of the lake was successfully opened last week. The weather has been very warm during the past week. High winds in the early part of the week did considerable damage to fruit trees. The high lands arc showing the effects of the weather and are showing a very parched appearance. A troupe of Native children from Kohumu attended the breaking up eoncert of tho Dry River School last Thursday night. They gave poi dances which were greatly appreciated by the large audience. Mrs Jack Hunter, who has been spending a short holiday In the district has returned to her home in Martinborough.

The local school closed for the summer vacation on Friday. Mr. D. Munro has returned from a short visit to his mother at Lower Hutt. Mr. J. W. Hayden, Auckland, was a recent visitor to this district. Tho sawmill which has been in operation at Whangamoana for the past twelve months will, early in January, be removed to Hinakura.

Owing to the paucity of members it is more than likely that the local rifle elub will be forced to disband.
