One of the most enjoyable dances held m Masterton this season was that at the St. .Matthew’s Parish Hall on Saturday night, organised by the local Rovers and their friends in “aid of the fund for providing wireless at the Renall-Solway Old Men’s Home. The arrangements were complete in every detail and those responsible are to be congratulated on their capable and successful effort. The hall and supper tables were artistically decorated, the supper itself being a very dainty one. Excellent music was provided by Kirk’s Orchestra and by Mr. W. D. Ansell with his electric wireless gramophone Exeras were played by Miss Seddon and Mr. G. Remnant, the orchestra and on the wireless gramophone. Mr B Ivoson was M.C., and kept the dance going merrily. A very line display of dancing was given by the pupils of Miss Molly Sellar, and greatly appreciated. Monte Cailo and lucky spot competitions were held and proved very interesting. At the conclusion of the function, the Rev E. McLevie thanked all those who had so willingly assisted and particularly the orchestra and Mr. Ansell, who had given their services free. ODDFELLOWS’ DANCE. The Loyal Masterton Lodge of Oddtellows held a most successful and enjoyable dance in the Masonic Hall on Saturday night. The function, which was capably organised, was largely attended, and half the proceeds are to be donated to the fund to provide wireless at the Solway Home. Mr N. Catherall proved an efficient M.C., and excellent dance music was supplied by the Gaiety Orchestra. The supper arrangements, which were well carried out, were in the hands of an energetic ladies' committee.
