DRAWING STEADILY NEARER TO PESHAWAR. MAIN BODY TWELVE MILES FROM CITY. ATTACKED BY SEVENTY AEROPLANES. DELHI, August 10. The inhabitants of Peshawar are spending anxious days owing to the menace of raiding Afridis growing ever nearer. Devout Moslems are praying for the success of the British and Indian troops. The main body of Afridis, estimated at 10,000, are encamped in the Bara Valley, twelve miles from the city. Some seventy aeroplanes operated and dropped sixteen thousand bombs, but it is believed the Afridi casualties were small. Meanwhile the main attack on Peshawar has not yet materialised.
