DEATHS IN MESOPOTAMIA. TEMPERATURE 130 IN SHADE AT BASRA. BASRA, August 10. Mesopotamia, far outdoing the American heat wave, is at present the hottest place on earth, the shade temperature at Basra reaching 130 degrees in the day time. Two members of the Royal Air Force and a number of other Europeans died. In Bagdad and elsewhere there have been numerous cases of heartstroke, even Arab coolies and Bedouins dropping dead.
