THRILLING FINISH.
AUSTRALIA-GLAMORGAN MATCH DRAWN. COUNTY MAKE PLUCKY EFFORT TO WIN. ONLY TWENTY-ONE RUNS SHORT. LONDON, August 5. The finish of the Glamorgan match was the most exciting of the tour. At lunch, Australia declared with 71 for one wicket. Before then, Jackson had given a simple catch and Bradman, struck on the ankle with the ball, limped slightly. The county were set 218 runt to get in 165 minutes, and at stumps were only 21 short. Bates and Dyson gave the side a good start until Grimmett came on at 33, and was immediately successful. Fairfax was expensive, and the 100 appeared in ninety minutes, with the loss of two wickets. Bates and Turnbull added 03 before Grimmett effected a separation. Bates batted excellently and Turnbull cleanly, scoring at a fast pace. The third wicket fell at 152. Batsmen were then dismissed about every ten runs. They forced the pace, but failed to achieve the objective by a narrow margin. The match was drawn. A doctor examined Bradman, and found that he had slightly strained a tendon in the foot.
