EASY HOURS.
PARTJAMTINT ADJOURNS EARLY. NO EVENING SITTING ON FRIDAY (By Telegraph—“ The Age” Special) WELLINGTON, July 4. There is at present no forcing the pace about Parliamentary hours. Perhaps this is a preliminary training for the shorter sittings which may be adopted if the Standing Orders Committee recommends a practicable scheme and the House agrees to it. To-day’s continuation of the Ad-dress-in-Reply Debate was ended at 9.45 p.m. and during the whole day Labour members refrained from attempting to catch the Speaker’s eye. Sir J. Ward, when moving the adjournment, announced what members seemed to quite understand, that on Friday he would move the adjournment motion at 5.30. There was some croos-talk between the leadens regarding this arrangement, Mr. Coates making it clear that he had not asked for am early adjournment, but had agreed, wnen it was suggested, that he would meet the wishes of the Government. “I shall be very careful in making arrangements in future,” remarked Sir J. Ward, who further explained that some members had asked if the matter could be arranged to enable them to get home for the week end and he had no objection.
