ADDINGTON RAM FAIR.

BEST SALE FOE MAITY YEARS. ' CORRIEDALE FETCHES 225GNS. < CHRISTCHURCH, March 22. The annual ram fair was concluded to-day, when stud rams were sold, the entry being 262 head. Corriedales were the principal section, numbering 66 head. Southdowns 42, English Leicesters 41 and Borders 20 were the other breeds principally represented. For good Corriedale rams there was a keen demand. The top price of the fair was 225gns, obtained for a Corriedale by H. T. Little. The ram was sold to G. T. Barker, Woodgrove. Average Corriedales brought 20 to 30gns, with few passings. Only two merinos were offer? ed and they failed to find buyers. The entry of English Leicesters, met with an excellent sale. Ordinary sorts averaged 20 to 25gns, with better up to 50gns. The top price was 127|gns. Border Leicester met with a moderate demand, the top price being 72gns. Values for Southdowns, which sold well, averaged 25 to 40gns. The top price at auction 85gns, but a ram passed at auction was sold for lOOgns. A total of 275 ewes were offered and met with a ready sale in the Corriedale and Southdown sections. The prices ranged up to 4gns for Corriedales, 61 gns for Southdowns, 4Agns for Lincolns and 41gns for merino. The ram fair was the best for a number of years, the values being better and the pnssings fewer than for a long time.—.(P.A.)
