Three people, Percival Coffey, aged 11, bullet wound in the back; Miss Esther Patchett, 45, bullet wound in the right thigh; and Miriam Coffey, 18, bullet wound in the neck, were shot while sitting on the verandah of a house in lower Ferntree Gully, near Melbourne, under mysterious circumstances.
