A PECULIAR OUTRAGE.
PEOPLE SITTING ON VERANDAH WOUNDED. SHOTS FIRED FROM SCRUB. MELBOURNE, March 18. Three people, Percival Coffey, aged 11, bullet wound in the back; Miss Esther Patchett, 45, bullet wound in the right thigh; and Miriam Coffey, 18, bullet wound in the neck, were shot while sitting on the verandah of a house in lower Ferntree Gully, near Melbourne, under mysterious circumstances. The house is surrounded by thick scrub, of which a thorough search was made. Six shots were fired altogether.—(Australian Press Associa-1 tion.) i *T 1 i
