SIGNS OF OIL.
STRIKE NEAR MURCHISON REEFTON, March 15. The Hon. W. A. Veitch, Minister of Mines, arrived lost evening and opened the Beefton Show to-day. Mr G. Black, member for Motueka, who is in Reefton, received the following telegram from. Mir John Spencer. Field Geologist: “My drillers engaged boring for gold passed through a black shale capping, releasing a large quantity of rich oil. The location of the boro is near Warwick Junction.” Mr Veitch has made special arrangements to inspect the bore before returning to Canterbury. Warwick Junction is about fifteen miles from Murchison.—(P-A.l
