RESULTS AT TRENTHAM YESTERDAY. SERVICE MATCH WON BY PERMANENT FORCES KING’S MEDAL TO BE DECIDED TO-DAY TRENTHAM, March 14. The chief feature of to-day’s programme at the Army Rifle Association meeting was the battle practice. The ground covers ranges over 500 yards in extent, the mechanical figures being exposed at intervals and different distances. The teams consist of eight men, in addition to a leader, points being given for fire, command and control and judgment of distances, as well as target hits. The meeting will conclude on Friday, when a separate match will be fired by the qualified hundred for the King’s Medal. The Prime Minister will present the prizes. The New Zealand .service match, for teams of eight men, open to ail arms of the New Zeaand Forces, 200 yards moving target, 300 yards snapshooting, 300 yards rapid and 500 yards slow, resulted : £l2, challenge shield and silver spoon, to each member, New Zealand Permanent Forces, 710; £B, and silver spoons, Central Command Territorials, 702; £4, New Zealand Division Royal Navy, 646. Five teams competed.

Command’s cadet teams’ match, 200 wards, individual tile competition, 200 was moving. target, 300 yards snapshooting, 500 yards slow, . £9, C.A.C. Shield and Silver..spoon, to each member, Central Command, No lleam, 432; £4 10s, and silver spoon, Northern) ommand No. 1 team, 405; 455, Southern Command No. 2 team, 372. Six teams competed. Lewis Gun anti-aircfcft match, passible 80 points: £3, First Battalion Auckland Regiment, 34; £2 10s, Northern Depot Engineers, 33; Northern Depot Army Service Corps and New Zealand Division of Royal Navy, 27, equal third place. Fifteen teams competed.

Hotchkiss gun anticraft match, possible 50 points: £3, Nelson-Marlbor-ough. Mounted Rifles, 29; £2, East Coast Mounted Rifles, 27; North Auckland Mounted Rifles and Canterbury Yeomanry, 24, tied for third place. Seven teams competed. The battle practice compotitum was won by the Central Command with 305 points. The Northern Commend teem, 119, was second. F. Jane, Napier, won the Cadet Badge Aggregate, 346, taking £3.—(P.A.)
