ACCIDENT AT HUNTLY.

ENGINE-DRIVERS’ FOOT ALMOST AMPUTATED AUCKLAND, April 4. The foot of an engine-driver, C. E. McPhail, of Auckland, was almost amputated as tho result of an accident in the Huntly railway yards early this morning. McPhail was standing on the 1 connecting rod at the side of the engine when the engine unexpectedly moved. His foot was caught in a narrow space between the moving rod and the other machinery and was practically severed. Tho injured man was admitted to tho Huntly Hospital, where an operation was performed immediately.—(P.A.).
