HER FIRST PARTY.
PRINCESS BETTY’S BIRTHDAY. LONDON, April 30. A lifelike doll, with a pathetic voice, from the Queen, and a dapple-grey rocking horse from the King,\will bo Princess Betty’s most outstanding birthday gifts to-morrow, unless her parents’ surprise packet from Australia trenscends them. The only grownup present will be Betty’s nurse. Their Majesties arc deeply disappointed that the opening of the Cardiff Museum will keep them away, but the Royal Family made certain that tho party would bo most jolly. A nursery rhyme frieze adorns the party room. . George and Gerald Lascelles, Alex Ramsay, Princess Pat’s rollicking son, who* sets the pace in the Castle gambols, will be the chief guests. There will be a wondrous three-tier cake adorned with a single pale blue candle. Betty is tho radiant chuckling idol of the Castle. She will have her birthday again when the Renown lands with her load of Australian children’s gifts.—(A. and N.Z.) ‘ '
