CARPENTERS AND JOINERS.
APPRENTICESHIP COMMITTEE. THE FIRST MEETING. The first meeting of the Masterton Carpenters’ and Joiners’ Apprenticeship Committee was held on Saturday evening, there being present Messrs W. Rigg (ehairihan), A. H. Daniell, H. Howes, R. M. Wright and C. Bell (secretary). It was decided to approach the director of the Masterton Technical School as to the form of instruction best suited to the requirements of apprentices. The matter of representations to the Arbitration Court as to the conditions which should govern apprenticeship was considered. The indications are that the committee will recommend conditions differing considerably from those how obtaining. The committee is confident that a careful administration of the new Act will result in great benefit to the trade.
