MASTERTON CHILDREN’S HOME.

MONTHLY MEETING. At the monthly meeting of the Management Committee there were present Mr C. E. Daniell (in the chair); Mrs J. Elliott, Mrs J. Cocker, Sister May, Messrs F. E. Wells, A. H. Daniell, Dr. Prior, Rev. W. Beckett and e ßev. J. It was decided that Louie Churchill should join the staff of the Home next year.

The secretary reported that some thousands of the Christmas appeals had been distributed throughout the area served by the Home. That arrangements had been made for another child to be admitted. That gifts ot photographs of the Home had ‘been donated by Mr W. H. Saunders. That a donation of £2O had been, received from Mr W. Kellow, Wellington, and £2l from the Wairarapa Club. That Mrs Maunsell had donated £3O, the cost of two cots in the Home, to be named the •‘Maunsell Cots.” A resolution was passed expressing appreciation of Mrs Maunsell’s generosity and the deep interest she had taken in the Home.

The secretary reported that a donation of £2OO had been received from the trustees of the Rathbone estate. The income for the month was £238 6s sd, and the expenditure £194 Bs. Accounts amounting to £B4 5s Id were passed for payment. The following committee was nominated for the coming year:—Messrs O. N. C. Pragnell, C. E. Daniell, J. A. Donald, A. H. Daniell, F. E. Wells, S. J. Smith, J. H. Handyside, Dr. N. H. Prior, Revs. W. Beckett and J. Cocker, Mesdames J. Elliott, O. Pragnell, J. Cocker ,W. Beckett, Miss Burton and Sister May. Mr O. N. C. Pragnell was reappointed chairman, and the Rev. J. Cocker secretary and treasurer.

The matron reported that friends had provided homes for all the girls 'luring the Christmas holidays, but that hospitality was required for a number of boys.
