The Masterton Harrier’s held a team’s’ race from the Park on Saturday. Tennis were picked by tho captain, vice captain and secretary. The hares Kitchener, Candy, and Nattrass, laid a course of about 41 miles past the Orphanage, taking a circle towards Homebush, back to River road and Church street to the Park. From tnc start the pact Was a cracker, Winhall leading. Thon ©packman, later the Lambess Brels., took charge, and, pacing turn about, soon established a lead, which they held to the finish. R. Lambess winning by a few yards from A. Lambess, Carr 3, Wallace 4. R. Lambess’s time was 26-20. Carr’s team (Carr 3, Winhall 5, Waters 6, Price 9) 23 points, tied with Spaekman’s team, (A. Lambess 2, Wai lace 4, Spackman 7, Christian 10) 23, points; Hunter’s team 34 points. A sealed handicap run in conjunction with the team’s race was won by W. Winhall, A. Lambess 2, R. Lambess 3, and Waters 4. A committee of ladies supplied afternoon tea after the run. It was decided to run the tie off next Saturday from tho Park over practically the same course when a sealed handicap will also be run. BENNETT SHIELD. Wellington, Sept. 23.—Tho Bennett Memorial Shield result was Wilson (Olympic) J, Dome (Hutt) 2, Rowberry (Wellington) 3. The teams race was won by Olympic, Hutt second.— (P.A.)
