EXPORT CHARGES. ADMINISTRATION EXPENSES. Wellington, March 13.—1 n a supplement to the Gazette, issued on Saturday, the maximum' charges payable in respect of meat exported from New Zealand were fixed as follow.— (a) In. the case of lamb or mutton, 2d per carcase; (b) in the case of beef, Id per quarter or 2d per side. In term s of section 13 of the Meat Export Control Act, the Meat Producers’ Board has fixed the following amounts as charges to be paid by way of levy on meat shipped on an exporting vessel from New Zealand, on and from to-day:—(a) In the case of lamb or mutton, Id per carcase; and (b) in the case of beef jd per quarter or Id per side. At th© conference of producers held on January IQ the feeling was unanimous that the coot of th© organisation, control, and export of meat should be borne by the producers themselves, and should not be a charge on the consolidated revenue, and in accordance with that desire this levy has been arranged. The amount to be paid is small, but it is anticipated that the total proceeds will be sufficient in th© meantime for Hie expenditure of the Meat Producers’ Board, both in New Zealand and London.—(P.A.)
