Mr G. L. Hawley Drew, who has been farming at Mangamutu, near Pahiatua, for the last two seasons, has sold his farm. Mr J. Whitmore-Searl, a recent arrival from the Old Country, has taken over tho lease of Mr H. E. Mowbray's farm at Hukanui. The Rev. O. T. Brown ,M.A., min-ister-elect of Knox Church, Masterton, occupied the pulpit of St. Paul's in Napier, yestefflay. Mr J. Trevor Thomas, late of Hastings, has assumed charge of the Pahiatua district branch of Abraham and Williams, Ltd. Mr D. E. Leslie,, of Masterton, has been elected President of the Wairarapa" branch of the Teachers' Institute for the ensuing year. A cable message received yesterday stated that Major Hart, of Carterton, who was wounded at the Dardanelles, had arrived in London. Mr A. McKay, of Masterton, who was for a number of years resident in the Pahiatua district, has volunteered for service at the front. Mr H. E. Mowbray, who has been a resident of the Bush District for the past 27 years, left on Friday for the Lower Hutt, where he intends to reside. Messrs Ri. Perry, Oswald Sykes, and Bavt. Duffy, of Masterton, have been accepted for service in the supplementary mounted contingent that will accompany the Sixth Reinforcements to Egypt. They will go into camp at Trentham on Saturday next. Trooper "Willie" Luoni, whose death is reported from the Dardanelles, was a son of Mr L. Luoni, who lived for many years at Hamna, in the Forty-Mile Bush, and is now a resident of Mangatainoka. The deceased joined the Third Reinforcements, and was drafted into the Otago Mounted Regiment.
