PETITIONS FOR POSTPONEMENT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Last Night. The petition promoted by the New Zealand Moderate League, praying that the elections be postponed on account of the war, continues to be largely signed by the citizens of Wellington. On Friday night last Dr. A K. Newman, M.P., presented the first instalment of 1700 signaturss to the House, and to-day the second instalment, totalling 3500 signatures, will be presented by Mr A. »I. HinJmarsh,, M.P. The general secretary of the League states that reports from other centres show that :he petition is receiving the ready support of the public. The first instalment of the Dunedin petition, numbering *-ome •2000, is on the way up, and Auck'aud reports that the first day's emulation resulted in 2000 signatures being -attached.
