A TROOPER KILLED.
FALLS FROM A TRAM. (By Telegraph—Fress Association./ CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. The trooper killed by a fall from a oar on Sunday evening has been mdentified as Trooper Matthew Galagher, of Gibbon Street, Sydenham. He was a member of the "B" squadron, having just been transferred from the infantry. Ho was 28 years of age, and his parents reside at Prebbleton. When the roll-call was w.nuled this morning, it was found that Trooper Matthew Galagher was missing. Galagher's cousin thereuiwn proceeded to the morgue, and nulentified the deceased by the vest lie wai wearing. The deceased was standing by himself on the rear of "ha platform of a 9.35 Addington car from Cathedral Square. As the oondneter ; «ame through from collecting tickets, Galagher appeared to slip, and pitched headlong on the road, sustaining a fractured skull, and dying on the way to the hospital. The deceased was one of the survivors of the Saltwater Creek boating tragedy of two or three years ago.
