PORO PORO SETTLEMENT.

YESTERDAY'S BALLOT.

Th<, ballot for sections in tho Poro Foro Settlement, about sixteen rnileß from Masfcfttori, which was recently acquired by the Government from Messrs A. J. Stone-Wigg and Beetham, took placo in tho Masterton Courthouse yesterday afternoon. The total area of tho block offered was 9,390 acres, cut up into seventeen scct\ous, ranging in area from 217 acres to 1850 acres. There \yere in 'all 197 applications. The ballot was conducted by Mr T. N. Brodriek, Commissioner of Crown Lands, in the presence of Messrs H. T. Effingham, J. Dawson, and J. Georgetti, members of the Land Board. Mr Carrick acted as scrutineer. Tho result of the ballot was as follows:
