CARTERTON.
From Our Own Correspondent. Wednesday. At the Magistrate's Court, to-day, before Messrs W. Moore and Jas. Brown, J's.P., a man, named Jas. Dalton, on a charge of drunkenness, was sent to gaol for 24 hours. A prohibition order was issued against a local resident. Evidence for the defence was taken in the case of Ross Bros., of Marton, v. 11. H. Woiter?, commission agent, a claim for £75 for commission 011 the sale of a property in liangitikei. The case will now come before the Court at Marton. The fortnightly meeting of the Methodist Band of Hope was held in the schoolroom, last evening. There was a fair attendance of members, and a good programme consisting of songs and recitations was rendered. At a meeting of the Carterton Library Committee held last night it was reported that arrangements had been made for a supply of Boys' and Girl's Own Papers, Punch and The Sphere. It was decided that where infectious diseases exist no books should be issued by the Librarian. Mr Cormack was thanked for the gift of cardsj, -ontaining list of papers in the reading rooir.
