Y.M.C.A.

The monthly meeting of the Board of Management of the y.M.C.A. was held last night. Mr P. L. llollings occupied the chair, and there were also present:— Messrs J. Heyhoe, O. C. Feist, A. J. Partcn, W. E. Chamberlain, D. E. Parton, C: E. Daniell and the secretary. An application from the Endeavour Lodge, 1.0. G.T., for use of the social hall for meeting purposes was granted. Mr A. D. Low wrote stating that ovi'ing to his removal from Masterton he' was compelled to relinquish the duties of hon. treasurer, Mr Low's resignation was accepted, and a hearty vote of thanks waß accorded to him for his services. Mr W. E. Chamberlain undertook to act iu the capacity of Treasurer until nextJßoard meeting, when a permanent appointment will be made. The chairman of the Ambulance Committee reported that all the members of the Association who sat for |be recent first aid examination had qualified for certificates. Members of the Board Bpoke in eulogistic terms of- the assistance given by Dr. Cowie to the Ambulanoi Corps, and a hearty vote of tbfenks was accorded to him. The Chairman of the Library Committee submitted a report iu which it was stated thftt it was found impracticable at present, owing to the laok of funds, to establish a library, but it was auggested that half the amount now being spent nn magazines, eto., should be used for the purpose of forming u nucleus of a fund for that purpose. The recommendation was adopted. The secretary was direoted to confer with the sooial committee with a view to arranging for a picnic on Boxing Day. The monthly report of,the custodian was to the, effect that the work of the institution was going along smoothly.
