THE PIG INDUSTRY.

PROSPECTS i'OR THE OOMIJNG SEASON. Mr William Dimook, managing director of W. Ditnoofe and Co., Ltd., the well-known bacon ourers, informs ua that the prospeots for the coming season are very goud. JRe expects to see a large increase in the number of pigs offering, and fully exoects the price to be well maintained. Last season, owing to the steady growth of business and on aooount of the supply of pigs not being obtainable, his 'company was obliged to refuse orders for thousands of sides and hams. He thinks the farmers are beginning to reHlise that One gcod sow is more profitable than the two best' cows on the farm. In Denmark the farmers obtain, during the season, fully one-third as much for their pigs as they do for their season's milk supply. He sees no reason why the piK industry should not occupy the same position in New Zealand as it does in other butter producing tries.
