ELEMENTARY AGRICULTURE.

1 MASTBKTON SCHOOL GAKDEN. MrW.-H. Jaokson, headmaster of the Masterton District High School, reported as follows to the meeting of the School Committee Jast evening:— A great amount of very heavy work baa been done in theaohool garden during the paat four weeks. Nearly ['the whole of the ground has been trenched and the boulders removed. Some forty or fifty loads of turf and weeds, taken from the front grounds some time ago, have been dug in to feed the ground. More is required to complete the plats. Manure or road spoil is an I urgent requirement aa I have not a ' barrow-load of stuff left. I have pleasure in announcing to the Committee that the following generous donations have been received by me for tbe eohool garden and for the funds of the school:—The Mayor (Mr J. A. Renall), £5 sa; Mr T. Wagg, a wheelbarrow, 255; Mr J. C. Ewington, a wheelbarrow, 255; Mr J. H. Pauling (fur Maaterton Implement Company) a wheelI barrow, 255; Mr J. D. Cruiokshank seed potatoes lEariy Rose, Beauty of Hebron, Upto-Date, and specimen packets of the following new varieties—Royal Kidneys, Faator, aud Scottish Triumph). 1 have pleasure in reporting that the Borough Council has complied with my request, and has had a very satisfactory water service laid on to the school plots, free of coat. The value of this contribution ia, I understand, £l6. The visiting members were authorised to spend £3 on the school garden. A vote of thanka was accorded to those who had made donations.
