At the annual meeting of the James Licensing Committee, held on Friday last, Messrs Inglis (chairman), Elder, G. A Smith, Westcott and Macdonnell being in attendance,publicans' licenses were granted to A. T. Brazil, Moa Flat Hotel ; J Eady Ferry Hotel; and T. J. Collins, Railway Hotel, Heriot. Robert Stewart applied for an accommodation license for premises at Horseshoe Bend. The police objected, urging that the license was not required. Mr Burton (agent for Mr Stewart) strongly urged his application and oacked it up with a numerously-signed petition in favour of the license, which was granted, the fee being fixed at £15 per year.
