DUNEDIN MARKETS-STOCK, &c.

JBTJBNSIDB — W BDNBSDAY.

Fat Cattle.— 3o9 head yarded at Burnside to-day, this being an extra large supply, and proved muoh beyond buyers' requirements, and the consequence was an exceedingly dull sale. Bid o ing was very slask, and prices much below those of last week's quotations. Beßt bullockß brought £6 10s to £8 12s 6d j medium to good, £3 10s to £6; cows in proportion. Fat Sheep.— 2o3s were penned at Burnside for to-day's requirements, of which about 400 were merino, the balance crossbred ewes and wethers, from good to prime quality. We have very little alteration to quote from last week's Bales; if any, prices were a shade higher, bidding being only fairly brisk. Best crossbred wethers brought 8s to 9s 6d ; ordinary, 6s 3d to 7b 9d j best crossbred ewes, 7s 9d to 8s 9d; ordinary, 5s 3d to 7s 6d; merino wethers, 3s 3d to 6s 3d. Wright, Stephenson, and Co. sold 681, including on account of Mr Joseph Clarke (Moa Flat estate), 100 prime halfbred wethers at from 9s 6d to 83 9d ; on account of Messrs M'Keioh and Robertson (Lawrence), 70 prime half bred wethers at from 9s 6d to 8s 6d ; on account of Messrs Murray, Roberta, and Co. (Gladbrook), 35 prime Leicester ewes at 9a 3d. 224 prime halfbred ewes at from 8s 9d to 8s 6d, and 111 prime merino withers at from 6s 3d to 5s 9d.

Fat Lambs. — 560 penned. We have no improvement to report for these, prices realised same as last week's sales ; best pen sold at 7s 6d, others from 3s 91 to ss.

Store Cattle.—The demand for these is rather weak, and not likely to improve before supplies are required for fattening on turnips ; and these, in many localities, do not at present give promise of heavy crops. This, considered with the low price realised for fat stock, gives but little encouragement in the meantime to operate. Store Sheep.— There is a considerable amount of inquiry, and full lists are now presented, but the business done is unimportant ; the demand is mostly for young sheep of both sexes, crossbred and merino, chiefly the former. Buyers, however, continue reticent, considering prices asked by holders rather high when compared with those now obtaining for fat sheep at the weekly market. Sheepskins. — At Monday'b sales, country dry crossbreds, low to medium, brought Is to 3s 3d ; do do merino, lid to 2e lOd ; medium to full-woolled orossbreds, 3s 6d to 5s 4d ; do do merino, 3s to 4s 2d j dry pelts, 2d to 8d ; butchers* green pelts, 12<3, 13d, 14d, 15d; lambskins, Is lOd, Is lid, 2s, 2s Id.

Rabbitskins. — The market in the meantime, owing to the absence of suitable lots for disposal, is necessarily quiet. Hides. — A steady demand continues to exist, all coming to hand being easily disposed of, but without any improvement in values.

Tallow. — Local manufacturers purchase freely at the following quotation! :— lnferior

and mixed, 10s to 14s ; medium to good, 14s 6d to 16s 6d ; prime mutton, 17s to 18s (bat very little of the latter quality in the market); rou.'h fat — inferior, 6a to 7s 6d ; medium to good, 8s to 10s ; beat caul, fresh and clean, 10s 6d to lls per owt.
