GRAIN AND SEED REPORT.
Messrs Samuel Obb a»d'Co., Staffordstreet, report for the week ending February Bfch as follows t—
Wheat.— The market for this cereal show no alteration from last week's report. We quote:— Prime milling velvet or Tuscan, 3b 9d to 3s lOd (though for a very fine parcel we got 3s lld)j ordinary, 3s 6d to 3s 8d ; medium, 3a 3d to 3s sd; inferior and fowls' feed, 2s 6d to 3s.
Oata.— Late prices are still maintained, and likely to be until the new crop comes in the market, which, with fine weather, should be in about a fortnight. Present prices are: — Prime milling, Is B£d j good heavy bright feed, Is 74d to Is 8d ; ordinary, Is 6fcd to Is 7&d ; inferior, Is 5d to Is 6d.
Barley. — We can now report the sale of 1000 bushels of Cape Barley at 2s lOd, delivered here.
Potatoes. — From personal observation we find that north of Timaru there is very little of this product being grown, while south there ia not the same aoreage under crop as last season, and the yields will not be nearly so large, Prices are at present from £2 15a to £3.
Chaff, — The demand still holds good, while prices are muoh about the Bame— say for really good well-cut oaten sheaf £2 10s to £2 15s.
