WAITAHUNA FARMERS' CLUB.

The adjourned meeting of the Waitahuna Farmers' Club was held in the Good' Templars' Hall, Havelock, on Saturday, 3rd January. Members present — Messrs Craig (President), Ryan, Oorry, Scott, Stevenson, G. Ross, Cowen, Macandrew, J. Robertson, and Garden (Treasurer.) The Secretary read a letter from Mr Hickson relative to an amendment in the Sheep Act, 1878, and requesting the Club to give publicity to same. The Secretary also stated that he had received the cheque placed in the hands of the atationmaster at Waitahuna as a guarantee re the special train. He also reported that (he agricultural and pastoral show, held on the 30th ult.,had been a complete success, both as regards the number and quality of the exhibits, and that the judges of stock were of opinion that there was a decided improvement in the quality of stock exhibited. He (the Secretary) had not sufficient time to prepare a full return, but would endeavor to get one ready by next meeting of the Club. He also stated that the attending members complained of the manner in which'the Committee and judges had been catered for, and trusted that some better arrangements, would be made on future occasions. On the motion of Mr Macandrew, seconded by Mr Robertson, the Treasurer was empowered to pay all . prizes as awarded, which will be handed over on application. It was decided to present the local Fife and Drum Eland with £ 5 in 'recognition of t^eir services' on/the show-day. On the motion of Mr Garden, seconded by Mr Scott, the President was instructed to take the necessary steps to get the building insured. The Secretary was instructed to pay Mr J. Robertson £2 for services rendered to the Club. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Ryan, seconded by Mr Craig : " That the prizes to be given for the greatest number of small birds' eggs at the next Show shall be to those exhibitors who have collected and sold the greatest number of eggs to the Secretary or Treasurer throughout the year, and that a register of same; commencing from sth January, be kept." Accounts, amounting to £48 2s 7d, were passed for payment. * The meeting then adjourned. ' \ ;
