(From our own Correspondent.) Mining here i 3 getting on splendidly. The river ia very low, and all parties are hoping to reap good results. There has been a good deal of gold got at Campbell's this year. The Waikaia is also looking well. There is one party there who are said to be getting an ounce to the dish. A small rush took place to the locality, and a good many claims have been pegged off adjoining it. The meeting of the ploughing match committee came off a few days ago. The match is to take place on Mr. Tubman's ground, Moa Flat, and is open to all comers As there are about £30 pounds to be given away, we ought to expect a good meeting. I see your contemporary the " Dunstan Times," has taken up the defence of the Clyde operator in his last issue, but it is a very unsatisfactory one, for to my knowledge the message was not. as the j " Dunstan Times " says, " opened as an ordinary telegram," but our operator not only noted it " urgent " once, but several times. As to his s lying his statement can be borne out by the Queenstown operator, I don't believe it; and I can say that the correspondent he alludes to in his letter, made himself thoroughly ac-

qnainted with the circumstances previous to writing his letter. The "Dunatan Times " need not at all regret that it appeared in public, for it was one of those matters which ought to be investigated into, so that a like occurrence would not take place again. The people of the Teviot thoroughly exonerate our Teriot operator from atl blame in the matter. I may mention that there are more in ikf Teviot that can read the instrument than the Government operator.
