The president said that it was very encouraging for the committee to see a larger number of mothers present that afternoon than had ever attended a meeting before. An interesting address on Plunket work was given by Nurse E. Borrows, who said that the methods adopted bv the society were continually being brought more up to date. She stressed the fact that mothers should make inquiries of the nurse as to the reason for any particular method of dieting being adopted. The first five years of life were referred to building up the welfare of future citizens of the Dominion. Thanking Xurse Bofrows for her address, Dr Glasgow pointed out the ill effects of the stimulation of young babies by the use of rattles, etc., as this was generally the cause of children being highly strung. Highly strung children were made, not born, and children should be allowed to form impressions for themselves. Airs Wright said that she had been very interested in Xurse Borrows’? address and congratulated the president on the siireessful meeting. After Xurse Aitken’s report had been read and adopted, those present were entertained to afternoon tea.
