Gatherings Held in Town and Country. CARD EVENING. The fortnightly card evening- of the Shirley Bowling Club was held in the Richmond Park pavilion on Saturday evening. Prizes, presented by air and Mrs A. C. Xicholas, were won by Mrs Ancell and Mr Law. and consolation prizes by Miss Jackman and Mr E. Fletcher. The Shirley Saxon Club opened its social season with a successful dance in the Shirley Masonic Hall on Saturday evening. Members of the club had worked energetically for some time to ensure that the evening should be an enjoyableone. Mr Ted Palmer was M.C. and the dance music was supplied by Miss Maisie Ottey’s Orchestra, extras being played by Mr L. B. Salkeld and Mr E. Bissett. Winners of prizes- in novelty dances were Mr and Mrs L. R. Moore and Miss Freda Southern and Mr Miles Butterick. Kitchen Gift Party. Mrs H. R. Green and her daughter. Miss Etta Green, were hostesses at a delightful kitchen gift party at their home in Windermere Road, given in honour of Miss Gladys Dailey and Mr A. Charlesworth, whose marrlgae will take place early next month. With Air E. Hansen as M.C. the evening was pleasantly occupied with novelty games, competitions and musical items. The first weekly dance organised by the Templeton Social Club proved one of the most popular dances held this season. The music was supplied by the Dunean-Winfield Orchestra. The winners of the competitions were Mrs Child and Mes-srs E. Davison and L. Child. The Monte Carlo was won by Mrs J. Blank and Mr F. Drayton, while the prize for the first couple on the floor went to Miss R. Clinton and Mr J. Taylor. Mr J. Carter was master of ceremonies. Among those present were:—Air and Mrs J. F.
