MAORI COFFIN FOUND.
Last week a resident of Chorlton found on his property a beautifully carved Maori coffin, in which was a very well preserved skull with a few Maori ornaments. Noticing a pile of stones, of such unusual shape that they appeared to be a design, he found that they concealed the entrance to a small cave, in which were found the coffin and its contents. Further investigations near where the cave was found have resulted in other skulls being found, but these have only been wrapped in mats which crumbled to dust on being touched.
