“Why Stay Here?”

Dear Sir,—So far I have refrained from chipping in on the much-discussed clothing question, but when I read letters in Wednesday’s paper by two correspondents who Loasted of coming from England I could not resist any longer. I would suggest that " Made in England" should stay in England, and I would ask “ English and Proud of It” why she stays in this ill-bred, bad-mannered country. Take my advice. “ Made in England.” and don’t get excited over “ En-Zedder’s ” remarks. They are perfectly true, but it is not in a detested person’s nature to know when he is detested. Maybe our girls rushed to see the English sailors who came recently, but girls rush to see any sailors, and the English •were obtainable at the time.

If the correspondents don’t like this country, then they should run home. There may be room for you, but so far the employment available is not sufficient. Of course we are told that numerous schemes are in hand to create employment for millions. but when we find proof of these schemes it will be the time for more people to come here. So until we reach that stage, leave what there is to the sons of the hardy pioneers who fought their way here and planted themselves when the wav was unpaved. Their descendants have had time to get the sweetness and freshness of this country into them. Good old " EnZedder.” I’m glad to follow you.—l am. etc, STAY IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD.
