GOLF.
British Team at Shirley To-morrow. The British amateur golf team arrives from Mount Cook to-night. There is great interest in its appearance at Shirley to-morrow, when the visitors meet a team selected from the Christchurch Club. The British team will be captained by the Hon Michael Scott, whose golfing deeds are well known, and he will be supported by the Scottish international and amateur champion of Scotland, J. M’Lean, whose play in Australia and in the games he has already played in New Zealand has been outstanding. The other two members, L. Garnett and T. Bourn, are also both international players. The Christchurch team—C. J. Ward, A. R. Blank, C. A. Seymour and E. J. Pumphrey—is capable of making a good showing against the visitors. This will be the only appearance of the British team in Christchurch, and it affords an opportunity of seeing international players. Foursomes will be played in the morning and singles in the afternoon. Play commences at 10 a.m.
