BURIED ALIVE.
Man’s Tragic Death in Well. GOOD-BYE, I’M DYING. United Press Assn.—By Klectrlc Telegraph—Copyright. (Continued from Page 1). (Received December 11, 2.10 p.m.) LONDON, December 10. A further fall of earth buried alive Charles O’Leary, the plumber, who was trapped while repairing a well at Grevstones, Wicklow, on Saturday afternoon. Scores of farmers worked desperately in boring a tunnel to reach O’Leary, whose leg and arm had been broken and whose body was covered to the waist. Finally a further fall of earth at 3 p.m. crashed on the imprisoned man, who was buried alive. The last words of the priest, the Rev Father O’Connor, who earlier administered Absolution, were, “ Cheer up, Charlie,” and a faint voice replied: “Good-bye, I’m dying.” Then there was silence. Doctors at *one time lowered a surgical knife in the hope that O’Leary could cut off his imprisoned leg. which was firmly fixed in a broken rung of the ladder. O’Leary replied that it was impossible and that it would be better if he were left to die.
