GARDENS’ CONTESTS.
Judging Arrangements Completed. The judging of the rock gardens’ competition of the Canterbury Horticultural Society will probably be completed this afternoon and the results in that case should be available tomorrow. Arrangements are already in hand for the judging of the other competitions. The first judging of the railway gardens will be carried out tomorrow and Thursday. The judges (Messrs J. A. M’Pherson, 11. H. Gardiner, 11. L. Darton and W. J. Brittenden, representative of the Railway Department), will visit Parnassus, Waikari, Rangiora (Class B), Southbrook, Papanui (Class A), and Riccarton (Class B), in that order to-morrow. The other entrants, Heathcote, Rakaia, Little River. Dunsandel (Class A), Leeston and Linwood (Class B) will be visited on Thursday. The second judging of this competition will be carried out in February. Class A consists of gardens already well established, and Class B of newlyformed plots. The judging of the factory gardens’ competition will also be done in February.
