Campers’ Fires.

Dear Sir,—l was very pleased to see that the Automobile Association has issued a special plea to motor campers to be careful with their fires, particularly in camping grounds. Every camper should observe the conditions laid down in these

areas set aside for their use and most of them do, but it is when camping on the roadside or in the bush that they are rather careless. There is no need for anyone to make a primitive fire on the ground. Portable fireplaces can be made very easily out of an old oil drum, the total cost not being more than a shilling or so. and if everv ♦motorist put one of these in his trailer there would be far less complaint concerning the damage caused by open fires—l am, etc., CAMPER.
