WEST OF ENGLAND SOCIETY.
The last social and dance of the season, held under the auspices of the West of England Society was a great success. The president. (Mr A. H. Emerson) welcomed the large gathering of sketch, Is Marriage a Failure/”*given by Mr T. Noble's party from Halswell. and a .lever toe dance by little Miss Betty Smith, was much appreciated. A Monte Carlo dance was won bv Mrs Burton and Mr D. M’Kearney, and the lucky entrance tickets by Miss R. Johns and Mr Blain. The president expressed gratification at the large number of friends present, and invited them all to join the society for the next year. Mr Emerson also announced that one of the society’s oldest members. Mr W. T. Oliver, was now' in an improved state of health. Presents for the children’s Christmas tree were received from the following: Mrs Fisher (tea cosv), the Misses Smith (books ). Bet tie's Orchestra supplied the music, and Mr J. Sims was M.C.
