Tues., Oct. 16—Ethelbert. Wed.. Oct. 17—Old Oak, Queen of the Oak. U.A.O.D. The official visits of the Grand Lodge officers to the southern lodges commenced at Ashburton on Monday night. Timaru, Waimate and Temuka Lodges will be visited during the week, and the visitors will return to Christchurch on Friday. Country members look forward to these official visits, and many matters of concern are settled by the executive officers. Perseverance Lodge—The Arch-Druid, Brother L. A. Watson, presided, and extended a welcome to the District President (Brother Herriott). The Grand Lodge officers, including Brothers L. B. Freeman (Grand President), R. Begg (Grand Vice-president), G. M’Kenzie (Grpnd Guardian) and F. E. Talbot (Grand Secretary). Apologies were received from Brother C. I. Barnes (PastGrand President) and J. Collins (Grand Treasurer). Addresses on the operations and finances of the Order were given by the executive officers, and a vote of thanks and welcome were accorded them. The fifty-fourth anniversary of the lodge will be celebrated next lodge night (Monday. November 12), and invitations have been extended to the Grand Lodge officers, the Board of Management and members of the Queen of the Oak Lodge. Oak of Sydenham—A.D. Brother Satterth waite presided, and D.P. Brother F. L. Herriot was present. Correspondence was received from the secretary. Royal Arch Chapter, enclosing the report of the judges of the efficiency competitions. The Lily of Richmond Lodge gained first place. Next lodge night. November 7, the old members of the lodge will fill the chairs. A report was received from the secretary. Brother N. C. Goode, regarding his attendance at the meeting of the Benevolent Committee. The lodge then adjourned and held a social evening and dance. During the evening Miss P. Lagan and Miss L. Lagan gave dance items. Mr .T. Rigley played the music for the dances during the evening. 1.0.0. F. Ridgeiy Lodge.—Brother C. King, N.G., presided, and two members on transfer were accepted and welcomed to the lodge. P.G. Invitations were accepted from Washington Lodge to a bowling tournament; Linwood Lodge to an evening at the indoor bowling rink, also a return cricket match at the New Brighton Racecourse on November 18. The invitation from Golden Link Lodge to their social and dance was accepted. At the conclusion of lodge business members spent an enjoyable evening with games, cards and dancing, interspersed with items given by Brother A. Brunning, Mr Jackson and Air Piper. Brother A. Sutherland assisted as pianist for the items and dancing, the lucky spot waltz being won by Miss R. Greenslade and partn’er and the Monte Carlo by Sister Allies and Air Stoddard. Lily of Sydenham Rebekah Lodge.— The members of Te Tawera Juvenile Lodge were entertained by the officers and members of Lily of Sydenham at a - social evening- in the Hastings Street . Hall. This visitors were entertained with pamee and dancing, and responses were made to the cordial welcome extended to the juveniles. Star of Opawa.—Brother Goodfellow. N.G.. presided, and three new members were initiated. Correspondence from the Grand Lodge was received, and a hearty welcome was extended to Brother Roach. P.G. (Brighter Greymouth Lodge), who conveyed fraternal greetings from this lodge and returned , thanks -for the hospitality shown to M.U., 1.0.0. F. Presentation of Trophies.—Alore than » 100 Oddfellows and friends assembled - at the central lodge room in St Asaph Street last evening to hear . the report of the judges of the efficiency competition recently completed. , Sister H. G. Taylor, president of the 1 Loyal Past GranoV Lodge, which conducted the competitions on behalf of the - district, presided. ■ j. Judges’ Report. Brother A.
