THEFT OF COUNTY FUNDS.
Two Council Employees Sentenced. Per Press Association. INVERCARGILL, This Day. In the Supreme Court to-day, Charles Martin Todd, aged 30 years, a married man with three children, was sentenced to eighteen months’ reformative detention for the theft of county council funds and the forgery of pay sheets. Cecil Laurence Gilbertson, aged 32 years, an accomplice, who was employed at clerical work by the council, received six months' reformative detention. Mr Justice Kennedy remarked that, finding a fraudulent scheme already in evidence, instead of reporting the matter, Gilbertson had been weak enough to fall and join in with the other prisoner.
