Garments Issued to Over 300 Families. A meeting of the executive of the Canterbury Centre of the New Zealand Red Cross Society was held on Tuesday ; present—Air C. J. Ronaldson (chairman), Lady Wigram, Airs H. H. Smith, Aliss Guthrie, Alessrs J. G. L. Vernon, C. Buchanan, J. W. Baty and A. L. Pratt. The Red Cr-oss Depot reported that 329 families had been helped with an issue of 3449 garments, mostly new. since the previous meeting, and 604 garments had been given to 303 men. Alajor Barnes reported that during’ the month of June the usual visits had been made, and tobacco, cigarettes and fruit had been distributed to exservice men in the Alental Hospital and to blind soldiers. War Fund matters were dealt with, the financial statement and reports showing that during the month of June ex-service patients had received attention at the ATiddle Sanatorium and at the Coronation Hospital (Cashmere Hills), at Queen Alary Hospital (Hanmer Springs), at Ashburton Hospital and Old Men’s Home, at Timaru Hospital, at Westland Mental Hospital, at Waimate Hospital, at the Rannerdale Home, at the Alental Hospital (Christchurch), at the Christchurch Hospital, and as out-patients, and that clothing, tobacco, hospital requisites, extra food, motor transport, grants to matrons for miscellaneous purchases, furnishings, cards, newspapers, books and magazines were supplied and amusements arranged for.
