TROPHIES PRESENTED.
Lyttelton Ladies’ Swimming Club Dance. Tho annual dance of the Lyttelton Ladies’ Swimming Club is always a popular gathering and this year’s dance, which was held last evening in the Excelsior Hall, was no exception, though the attendance was not quite\ so large as usual. Those present thoroughly enjoyed themselves dancing to music supplied by the Herdman-Fisk Orchestra.
Luring an interval the Mayor (Mr W. T. Lester) presented trophies won during the past season as follows:—Miss Jessie Gilray, 100yds championship (cup presented by Mrs Colin Cook); Miss Joan Brown, 75yds championship (cup presented by Miss M. Crawford Miss Mavis Gilray (Mrs J. D. Bundy’s cup for member gaining most points during season), 24 points, also first dive, first 50yds (2), second 50yds, second 25yds; Miss Joan Brown, first 50yds, second 50yds, first breast-stroke; Miss Ruth Maddon, first 50yds, first 25yds, second 25yds; Miss Mary Pitcaithly, first 25yds, second 25yds; Miss Betty Weastell, first 25yds. Among those present were:—Mr and Mrs W. T. Lester, Captain and Mrs J. Crawford, Mr and Mrs D. Cromer, Mr and Airs H. Oates; Mesdames Colin Cook, P. E. Sutton, J. Plimmer, F. Hobbs, E. Weastell and H.
