It is understood that it is unlikely that the Lyttelton Harbour Board will be successful during the present session of Parliament in securing authority to provide for additional representation of the City of Christchurch on the board. The board has communicated with the Minister of Marine, the Hon. J. G. Cobbe, but it is considered that an amendment to the Harbours Act, 1923, in favour of the board might have repercussions from other harbour boards. The board at its last meeting adopted a recommendation of a special committee to increase the representation of the Christchurch city on the board by one member. The board decided to introduce a Local Bill to this effect a\ the present or next ensuing session of Parliament, to amend the first schedule of the Harbours Act to provide for this additional member.
