£15,000 FOR RELIEF.

-Decision of War Funds Council. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, July 19. The annual meeting of the National War Funds Council decided to authorise the executive to expend up to £15,000 in the assistance of men suffering from unemployment. The council also resolved that further efforts should be made to secure a grant from the British Legion. The accounts showed a credit balance of £136,735 7s lOd as at March 31 last, including the account’s income ; and the expenditure account disclosed that the expenditure had exceeded income by £12,426 Is 2d. The trust accounts showed an increase of £535 3s 6d, thus leaving a net excess of expenditure of £11,890 17s Bd. Two bequests -were reported, £556 17s 6d under the wfill of Mr Frederick Martin, of Christchurch, for blind soldiers, and £4OO under the will of Miss Simmonds, of Thames, for the wounded and disabled soldiers of New Zealand. The relief given for the year totalled £16,370, an increase of £2OOO over that of the previous year. Assistance was given to Imperial, Australian and Canadian men as well as to ex-mom-bers of the N.Z.E.F.
